ETHICS

Think about how you would like to find the next shelter and do the little tasks, not always pleasant, but that are so important for communal life in a cabin or a cottage.

  1. Clean the wood stove inside and out. Be careful to where you throw away the ashes. Remake the supply of wood, logs and kindling. Use the wood sparingly. Before leaving, close the stove dampers.

  2. Sweep the floor, wash the dishes and other appliances used.

  3. Bring back all garbage, particularly bottles. It is easy to bring back empty bottles.

  4. Take off your shoes when you get in to avoid wetting the floor.

  5. Shovel up the snow on the trails and around the door of the back house, making sure the door is closed.

  6. Always think of others. Avoid making noise and talking loudly when people are asleep. Always be ready to make room for newcomers (8 people cabins).

  7. Pay the required fees. It's not much to ensure such service.

  8. Report any damage to the organization : leaking roof, broken windows, defective stove, etc. The cabin maintenance is everyone's responsibility.

  9. During winter time, make sure there is no ice under the doors so they will close well.

  10. Protect the environment around the shelters and all along the trail. Never peel the bark off the birches to start a fire. Apply the regulations in effect in the park and controlled areas (Z.E.C.) where the trail runs. It is strictly prohibited to chop wood inside camps.
